The organization of five Caspian and Central Asian Turkic states known as the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (CCTS) or, since May 31, 2009, the Turkic Council is an international intergovernmental organization with five member states (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Uzbekistan) with substantial Turkic populations. Formed on October 3, 2009, to promote cultural ties and economic cooperation among its member states. It has a blue background with a white crescent and a five-pointed star in its center in the flag of the Turkic Council. The symbols are common in flags of several Turkic countries and symbolize unity, peace and solidarity among countries in the region.
