Union of South American Nations, also known as UNASUR, is the intergovernmental organization of twelve South American countries. Established on May 23, 2008, it promotes regional integration, economic development, and social progress of its member states. The UNASUR flag had a blue background with a yellow sun in the middle, representing the wealth of the area's cultural heritage and a sign for a bright future. Additionally, some South American countries have flags of blue and yellow, representing unity and hope.
