Malaysian flag has fourteen horizontal red and white stripes for all the thirteen states and federal territories of Malaysia. Above is a blue rectangle with a yellow crescent moon and star in its top left corner. It was elected a color of blue to depict unity of the Malay people and their struggle for independence; and yellow to embody the country’s royal ancestors! The crescent moon and star have traditionally been symbols of Islam in Malaysia.
