Southern African Development Community (SADC) is an intergovernmental organization of 16 African countries. Set up on August 17, 1992, its objective is to promote economic development, peace and security among members. The gold emblem is of the sun rising over mountains, centered on the blue background. The region's colors symbolize hope, prosperity, and unity. The design synthesizes SADC's dedication to committing to promoting economic development and social development and working toward peace and stability in the region.
