The flag of Barbados has blue, yellow, and blue vertical stripes, a black trident in the center, and consists of two blue stripes, one on top and one at the bottom of the flag that are symbolic of the ocean that surrounds Barbados as well as its tie to the Atlantic Ocean. It has a yellow stripe for the golden sand of its beaches and the bright sunshine on the Caribbean island. The black trident is a traditional Barbadian symbol for the sea god Poseidon, worshipped by early settlers of Barbados.
