The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is a military organization with 30 members in North America and Europe. Founded on April 4, 1949, its purpose was to establish collective defense and security among its members. A blue background makes up the NATO flag, on which a white compass rose signifies the peace and cooperation atmosphere set for the organization. The four points of the compass symbolize an idea of collective security and cooperation among the member States. Blue is also the symbol of stability and trust allied.
