Emblem of Central African Republic

The Central African Republic flag is a vertical blue, white, and green tricolor with a five-pointed five-point yellow star at the center. The story has always described the colors as representing hope (blue), purity (white), and faith (green), and they were adopted on December 1, 1958. The left side edge, the red stripe, represents the symbol of self-determination and independence. Its yellow indicates unity and the light by which the people should be guided in the march toward progress and peace.
