The Five-starred Red Flag is the flag of China, adopted on September 27, 1949. The composition is a red background, and in the top left corner, there are five yellow stars. The large star stands for the Communist Party of China, and the four smaller stars indicate the four classes, that is, the working class, peasantry, urban petty bourgeoisie, and national bourgeoisie. This design preceded other flags employed by China's various rulers over its history.
