Three horizontal bands of black (top), white, and green represent Jordanian territory. Its structure is one red triangle gauge with a seven-pointed white star in the center on the hoist side. The dynasty that ruled much of the Middle East during the Islamic Golden Age was the Abbasid Dynasty, which is why the black represents it.
