The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is an intergovernmental organization comprised of ten member states. On August 8, 1967, it was set up to promote economic growth, social progress and regional stability. The ASEAN flag features ten yellow rice stalks on a blue background, representing its member states. It represents unity, courage, and dynamism as it is red.
