The Organization of Islamic Corporation (OIC) is the second largest international organization after the United Nations, consisting of 57 member states spread across the entire Muslim world. The organization was set up on September 25 1969, to promote cooperation and unity among its members. On a green background, the emblem in the center of the OIC flag is that of the Kaaba in Mecca, Islam's holiest site. Green also represents the Islamic faith as well as life and prosperity. The emblem contains traditional symbols of Islam, the star and crescent, to symbolize unity between Muslim nations.
