On December 5, 1995, the national flag of Eritrea was adopted. It has three horizontal bands of red (top), green, and blue, and a canting yellow emblem at the center. Further, they described that the red band denotes the bloodshed during Eritrea's struggle for liberation; the green band shows Eritrea's agriculture and natural resources. The sea, hope, and faith in the future are represented by the blue band surrounding Eritrea. An olive wreath, symbolizing peace and unity among Eritreans, is on the yellow emblem.
