Flag of Fiji
October 10, 1970, saw Fiji choose its flag following its independence from Britain. The shield in the fly-half is broken into four halves with a light blue backdrop showing the Union Jack in the top left corner. A yellow lion holding a cocoa pod in the top left quarter represents Fiji's agricultural might and riches. The white dove in the top right quadrant represents Fiji's peace and diversity. Fiji's principal product is sugar cane, which is displayed in the lower left quadrant. A palm tree against a blue sea and sky highlights the islands' natural beauty in the lower right quadrant.
