Flag Detail

The middle red band is offset slightly from the top edge, and a crescent moon and four stars are centered in the red band's white semi-circle against the moon's flanks. The design was adopted on January 7, 2002, and shows the four main islands of Comoros and their union under one nation. Islam is the country's main religion, and the crescent moon symbolizes that religion.
