Small and landlocked between France and Spain and the Pyrenees Mountains, Andorra's flag represents a nation. The present design was chosen on August 24, 1911, and Andorra became an independent state only in 1993. Three-strip flags feature an orange middle stripe, a blue lower left stripe, and a red right stripe. Andorra's coat of arms centers the yellow stripe on four red quarters featuring golden oak trees. This flag still symbolizes Andorra's freedom and close relations with France and Spain.
