Flag of Dominican Republic
Originally adopted on November 6, 1844, the flag of the Dominican Republic was first flown upon its unilateral independence from Haiti. It features the coat of arms in the middle, a white cross spanning four equal rectangles of both blue and red. Those are colours: blue represents liberty, red represents bloodshed in defence of independence, and white represents salvation—an open Bible for faith, an olive branch for peace, and a palm branch for victory.
